Modern Gallery, Art museum in Zrinjevac district, Zagreb, Croatia
The Modern Gallery occupies a stately palace and displays approximately 10,000 Croatian artworks. The collection features paintings, sculptures, and drawings primarily spanning the 19th and 20th centuries.
The institution was founded in 1905 and received support through an important private art collection. It moved to its current building in 1934, where it has remained ever since.
The location is named after the Zrinski family, whose influence shaped Croatian history. Visitors come here to experience how Croatian artists expressed their ideas across painting, sculpture, and drawing through different artistic movements and styles.
The building is centrally located and easy to reach with good public transport connections in downtown Zagreb. The collections are spread across several floors, so allow time to explore at a comfortable pace.
The museum features a special section with raised relief versions of famous paintings that visually impaired visitors can explore by touch. This uncommon approach to art access allows people to experience masterpieces in a different way.
