Nikola Šubić Zrinski Square, Public square and park in Donji Grad, Zagreb, Croatia
The square extends over 12,540 square meters and contains a music pavilion, fountains, marble busts, and rows of century-old plane trees imported from Trieste.
In 1866, this former cattle market transformed into an urban square, named after Croatian military commander Nikola Šubić Zrinski who died defending Szigetvár from Ottoman forces.
The square forms part of the Green Horseshoe, hosting the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Archaeological Museum, and multiple government institutions in surrounding buildings.
Located between Ban Jelačić Square and the Main Railway Station, this central plaza provides benches, shade, and a marble meteorological post displaying time and weather conditions.
The square features six busts of notable Croatian figures, including Julije Klović, Andrija Medulić, and Ivan Mažuranić, arranged along its southern section.
