Rogotin

Rogotin is a settlement in the Neretva Valley that spreads along the river and its delta, featuring homes, farmland, and natural waterways throughout the area. The landscape shifts between built-up zones and open countryside, with the river system being a defining feature.

The settlement grew as part of the agricultural development of the Neretva Valley, shaping life in this area for many centuries. The region has been closely tied to farming and maritime activities that defined the Dubrovnik-Neretva area.

The people who live here follow farming traditions rooted in working the land around the river, using water management practices handed down through families. You can see how local life is shaped by the rhythm of agricultural work and seasonal changes.

The settlement is reached via the coastal road network, located just a few kilometers from the transportation hub of Ploče. Walking through the area gives you the best sense of the landscape, farmland, and how houses are scattered throughout.

Since 2020, the area has featured wind organs that create music when air flows through 21 specialized tubes placed in strategic locations. This installation blends modern art with the valley's natural setting in an unexpected way.
