Church of St. Demetrius

The Church of Saint Demetrius stands 50 meters tall with a width of 16 meters and stretches 36 meters in length as a brick structure.

Established in 1791, the cathedral underwent major renovations after suffering damage during both World War I and II, including the loss of its bells.

The cathedral serves as the seat of the Eparchy of Osječko polje and Baranja, featuring an iconostasis created in 1824 that reflects Serbian Orthodox traditions.

Located next to the Patriarchal Court, the cathedral maintains regular worship services and welcomes visitors interested in religious architecture and history.

The bells of this cathedral rang simultaneously with Roman Catholic churches worldwide to mark the funeral of Pope John Paul II in 2005.
