Sarvaš

Sarvaš is a settlement east of Osijek in a rural area with open fields and scattered houses. The village has an agricultural structure with traditional farms and shows the typical layout of a country community in this region.

Archaeological excavations in the 1970s and 1980s revealed traces of ancient settlements from classical times. These findings show that the region has been inhabited for a long time with deep historical roots.

The Catholic church shapes the local character and reflects the rebuilding spirit that marked life here after difficult times. Visitors can see in its architecture and materials the community's determination to restore what was lost.

The settlement is near Osijek and accessible by regional roads that also connect to urban facilities. It is a quiet place to explore rural landscapes and the traditional way of life in the area.

Before World War II, a German-speaking Danube Swabian community lived here and later departed. Today local stories and traditions preserve the memory of this departed population and their role in village life.
