Lake Naplás, Natural reserve lake in Budapest District XVII, Hungary.
Lake Naplás is a freshwater lake covering about 16 hectares within one of Budapest's largest protected natural areas. The site features open water mixed with reed beds and forest zones that support diverse animal and plant life.
The site was transformed from an industrial zone into a protected natural area in 1997. This restoration allowed local wildlife to return and established it as a green sanctuary within the city.
The lake draws local families and nature lovers who come to observe birds and amphibians in their natural surroundings. The reed beds and woodland create a quiet setting where people naturally slow down and watch the wildlife.
The area is accessible via cycling and walking paths that follow the Szilas stream and are easy to navigate. Rest areas and picnic spots near the water provide places to pause and enjoy the surroundings.
A wooden observation tower about 22 meters high provides views across the entire water surface and surrounding habitats. From this vantage point, visitors can spot birds and other animals much more easily than from ground level.
