Hungaroring, Motorsport racing track in Mogyoród, Hungary.
Hungaroring is a motorsport racing track in Mogyoród, Hungary, known for its compact layout with 14 turns across a length of 4381 meters. The track winds through gentle hills northeast of Budapest and features varying elevation changes between sections.
The facility opened in 1986 and was the first Formula One venue in a country of the former Eastern Bloc. Construction took eight months and happened during a period of political opening.
The circuit name combines the Hungarian word for Hungary with the traditional suffix used for motorsport venues. Local spectators often bring handmade flags and banners that they attach to fences along the track.
The track sits about 20 kilometers northeast of Budapest and is easily reachable by car. Several grandstands accommodate around 70,000 spectators in total, who can view different sections of the circuit from these positions.
The tight track layout with many corners and few straights demands high technical precision and physical endurance from drivers. The design is considered challenging because overtaking maneuvers are difficult and drivers must remain focused throughout.
