Nagy-Hideg-hegy

Nagy-Hideg-hegy, Summit in Börzsöny Mountains, Hungary.

Nagy-Hideg-hegy rises to 864 meters (2,835 feet) in the Börzsöny Mountains and is the third highest elevation in the range. The mountain sits within Duna-Ipoly National Park and is connected by trails that link it to surrounding villages and valleys.

A mountain lodge was established here in the 1930s and began welcoming visitors by 1940. The site became significant when Hungary's first ski lift opened here in 1953, marking the beginning of modern skiing in the country.

The summit has been a gathering place for winter sports enthusiasts and hikers for generations. Visitors today come here to ski, hike, and spend time together at the mountain lodge.

The mountain is accessible year-round via multiple trails, with ski slopes available during winter months. The mountain lodge provides accommodation and meals, and regular connections link it to surrounding villages.

The mountain lodge was built with central heating and running water, accommodating up to 60 guests. The dining hall is surprisingly spacious, capable of serving more than 200 people at the same time.
