Sávház, Kaposvár

Sávház is a residential building in Kaposvár containing approximately 330 apartments distributed across ten floors with long corridors connecting the units. The structure spans a substantial footprint and houses a significant residential population.

Construction began in September 1969 with groundwork and foundations, reaching completion in 1973 under the direction of architect Gyula Szőke. The project emerged during a period of modern residential expansion in the city.

The building brought together residents from different professions including police officers, soldiers, teachers, craftspeople, and musicians who shared a vertical community. This residential setup created a diverse social fabric within a single structure.

Multiple bus lines serve Honvéd Street including routes 12, 20, and 21 that provide regular connections to the residential complex. Bus stops are within walking distance and offer good connections to other parts of the city.

Solar panels were installed in 2019 to power the building's hallway lighting and elevator systems. This addition demonstrates efforts to improve energy efficiency in this decades-old residential complex.
