Berzsenyi Park in Kaposvár, Central park in Kaposvár, Hungary
Berzsenyi Park is a green space in Kaposvár featuring established pathways and a diverse selection of trees including silver maples, ash, plane, and tulip varieties. The grounds offer multiple entry points and a well-defined layout for walking and moving through the space.
The site began as a military training ground and airfield in the early 1900s and witnessed its first powered flight in 1911. It later became a public park open to local residents.
The park carries the name of poet Dániel Berzsenyi and displays monuments dedicated to him and other figures of local importance. Walking through, you encounter sculptures and memorials that reflect how the community honors its heritage.
You can enter the park from Kossuth Lajos street, Damjanich street, or Szent Imre street, with paid parking available nearby. The established pathways make it easy to navigate different areas of the grounds.
A music pavilion designed by Dezső Hegedűs in 1929 for an agricultural exhibition stood on the grounds until 1945, when it was removed, then reconstructed in 2001. This restored structure represents the park's connection to early 20th century events and the community's effort to restore lost architecture.
