Chapel of the Assumption of our Lord Christ of the Kerepesi Cemetery, Romantic chapel in Kerepesi Cemetery, Budapest, Hungary.
The cemetery chapel stands within the Fiumei úti Nemzeti Sírkert grounds, featuring elements of Romantic architecture with decorative details and curved arches.
Architect Lőrinc Zofahl designed the chapel in 1857 following a request from Prince-Archbishop János Scitovszky to establish proper religious services at the cemetery.
The chapel initially housed four Bavarian Carmelite friars who performed burial ceremonies for deceased individuals, particularly those from impoverished backgrounds.
The building measures 137 square meters and accommodates up to 100 people for religious ceremonies, with current management under the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest.
Annual celebrations occur on the seventh Sunday after Easter, maintaining a tradition that connects the chapel to its historical religious significance.
