The arcade contains the resting places of Hungarian writers, artists, and national heroes, including Lajos Kossuth, Ferenc Deák, and Mihály Vörösmarty.
The cemetery grounds span 56 hectares and remain open to visitors throughout the year, with extended hours during All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.
The structure combines burial functions with an arboretum, housing protected plant species and serving as a habitat for various animal species.
