Kisstadion is a multi-purpose arena in Budapest designed to accommodate both sports competitions and musical events across tiered seating areas. The venue provides facilities for different types of performances depending on its configuration.
The stadium was built between 1959 and 1961 as part of Hungary's post-war modernization efforts. Its opening represented an important milestone in Budapest's sports infrastructure development.
The venue hosted the 1963 European Figure Skating Championships and 1964 Women's European Basketball Championship, establishing its role in continental sports.
The stadium is at Istvánmezei út 3–5 in Budapest's 14th district, reached by M2 metro or tram 1 at Puskás Ferenc Stadion, bus 7 at Cházár András utca, or trolleybus 75 at Thököly út. Because it is uncovered, its ice season runs from October to March; a mobile rink under an insulated tent now extends use from September to June, even at +30 °C outside.
The stadium has no roof at all: its 90-metre width, wider than the 55–60 m usual for such structures, is a design error that made covering it too costly, and plans failed repeatedly. A temporary insulated tent over the rink and the first rows of stands was installed in November 2013, allowing ice from September to June even at +30 °C outside.
