Stefánia Palace and Cultural Centre

Stefánia Palace and Cultural Centre, Performing arts center in Zugló, Hungary

Stefánia Palace is a performing arts center in Budapest featuring Neo-Baroque architecture with an octagonal central pavilion and symmetrical side wings that frame the main structure. The theater hall seats approximately 486 people and includes accessible spaces designed for visitors with mobility needs.

The building was constructed between 1885 and 1895 as a casino by architect Artúr Meining and was originally known as the Park Club. Following World War II damage, it underwent renovation in 1948 and was subsequently transformed into a cultural venue.

The venue is named after a Hungarian educator and serves as an active cultural hub where theater performances and artistic events take place regularly. Visitors can experience how the historic building has been repurposed to support contemporary performing arts.

The venue is located on Stefánia Road in Budapest and is accessible by public transportation. Check ahead about current performances and events, as the program changes regularly throughout the year.

The grounds were originally surrounded by an English-style park, giving the site a countryside feel within the city. This green space remains an integral part of the site's character and setting.
