Ardamullivan Castle, Tower house in County Galway, Ireland.

The six-story stone tower house stands on a rocky outcrop, featuring defensive walls, bartizans on its corners, and numerous slit windows.

The O'Shaughnessy clan constructed this fortification during the 16th century, marking their dominion over the Cenél Áeda na hEchtge region until 1650.

Medieval wall paintings found inside the castle depict religious scenes including Saint Christopher, a Passion cycle, and Saint Michael weighing souls.

Located 5 miles south of Gort, this national monument offers free access to visitors interested in exploring Irish medieval architecture.

The castle witnessed a fatal confrontation in 1579 between Dermot O'Shaughnessy and his nephew John, resulting in both their deaths.
