Haifa Theatre

Haifa Theatre is a municipal theatre company in Haifa, Israel, focused on dramatic productions for diverse audiences. It presents eight to ten plays annually across cities, settlements, and kibbutzim throughout the country.

Founded in 1961 by Haifa mayor Abba Hushi, this institution became Israel's first municipal theatre. This establishment marked a turning point in how professional theatre developed throughout the country.

The theatre employs both Jewish and Arab actors and presents performances in Hebrew and Arabic to mixed audiences. This bilingual approach creates a space where different communities experience their stories being told on stage.
