Neemuch is a district headquarters in the state of Madhya Pradesh in west-central India. The town sits on a plateau and spreads across several kilometers with wide roads, residential areas, and commercial zones around the central bazaar.
The British Army established a military base for mounted artillery and cavalry here in 1822. The location served as an important military hub in the region for over a century.
The town takes its name from the Nimbu tree, a citrus species that once grew here. Today, traders sell opium and spices in the busy streets while families gather in the residential neighborhoods during evening hours.
The town can be reached via National Highway 79, which connects it to larger cities in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. A railway station on the line between Ajmer and Ratlam offers regular train connections in several directions.
