Kang Yatze

Kang Yatze is a mountain with two distinct summits positioned close to each other in the Ladakh region. The eastern peak is taller than its western counterpart, and a narrow ridge of rock connects both summits.

This massif sits at the eastern edge of the Markha Valley and borders the Hemis National Park. The mountain has long served as a geographical reference point for people traveling through Ladakh.

Local mountain guides from Ladakh villages lead expeditions through traditional routes, sharing their deep knowledge of the mountain's characteristics and climbing patterns.

Climbing here demands stamina and proper gear, since ascents involve steep snow slopes and loose rock sections. Many expeditions begin in the early morning hours to make the most of daylight and safe conditions.

The eastern summit features a narrow rock ridge that demands technical climbing skills to cross. The western peak, by contrast, offers climbers more flexibility in route selection with fewer technical demands.
