Bannerghatta National Park, National park in Bengaluru Rural district, India
The 104-square-kilometer park contains forests, grasslands, and rocky terrains that provide habitats for elephants, tigers, lions, and numerous bird species.
The territory functioned as a private hunting ground for the Maharajas of Mysore before its establishment as a national park in 1974.
The park integrates six rural villages within three large enclosures, where local communities maintain traditional sheep and cattle farming practices.
Between October and February, visitors experience increased wildlife sightings along the 6-kilometer safari road due to moderate temperatures.
The park includes one of India's largest butterfly conservatories, featuring hundreds of species in their natural reproduction cycles.
