Jama Masjid, Champaner

The rectangular mosque features eleven domes, two octagonal minarets, and 172 pillars arranged throughout multiple prayer halls with intricate stone carvings.

Sultan Mahmud Begada commissioned the construction of this religious structure in 1513, taking 25 years to complete during the Gujarat Sultanate period.

The architecture merges Islamic structural elements with Hindu decorative patterns, including carvings of lotus flowers, vines, and geometric patterns across walls.

The mosque maintains dedicated facilities for ritual washing, with three separate gateways leading into the main courtyard from different directions.

Stone plaques inscribed with Koranic verses adorn the walls, while one minaret bears damage from gunfire during an 1812 conflict.
