Bawaman Mosque

Bawaman Mosque is a religious structure with three large domes, multiple arched gateways, and a prominent minaret on the western side. The building contains numerous interior spaces connected by arches and supporting columns throughout its layout.

The building was constructed in the 15th century during Mahmud Begada's reign and remains as one of numerous monuments from that period. Its design reflects the architectural approaches favored by rulers of that era.

The mosque blends local building methods with Islamic design, visible in its prayer niches and overall structure. Visitors can see how regional architecture traditions were adapted to meet religious needs when exploring the interior.

You can reach the mosque through the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, where ongoing restoration efforts protect the structure. Wear comfortable shoes and prepare for uneven ground since the site preserves its historical character.

The structure includes separate washing basins placed beside the main building, showing how daily religious practices shaped the overall design. These water facilities were essential for ritual cleansing and were carefully integrated into the building plan.
