Lingdum Monastery, Buddhist monastery near Ranka, East Sikkim district, India.
Lingdum Monastery is a Buddhist monastery set on elevated grounds in East Sikkim, with the Re Khola river flowing near its location. The site combines temple and residential buildings arranged across the hillside with views over the surrounding landscape.
The monastery was built during the late 1990s and opened in 1999. It represents a newer generation of monastic buildings that have been established in Sikkim over recent decades.
The monastery follows the Zurmang Kagyud lineage of Buddhism under the guidance of Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche. Daily monastic practice reflects the active Buddhist traditions that shape spiritual life in this part of Sikkim.
The monastery is open from early morning through sunset with no entry charge. It is easily reachable from Gangtok and works well as a half-day visit from the main city.
The prayer hall houses a large Buddha statue with walls decorated in thangkas and detailed hand-painted artwork. These artworks display traditional Buddhist imagery and reflect the skilled hand-crafted painting techniques maintained within the monastery.
