Harekrushna Mahtab State Library

The Harekrushna Mahtab State Library occupies a four-story building with 16,000 square feet of space on Sachivalay Marg, next to the State Secretariat.

Established in 1959 during the First Five Year Plan, the library was initially named Gandhi Bhawan in 1967 before receiving its current name in 1987.

The library maintains a collection of over 300,000 items including books, magazines, newspapers, journals, manuscripts, and traditional Odia literature.

Operating in two shifts from 8 AM to 8 PM with separate state and public sections, the library serves approximately 10,000 users through its 24 staff members.

The facility houses an extensive collection of historical maps, postage stamps, prints, and drawings documenting the cultural evolution of Odisha state.
