Glamoč

Glamoč is a municipality in southwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina situated across rolling foothills between mountain ranges. A medieval fortress perches above the flat valley floor where the main settlement developed.

The area was known in ancient times as Salvium, a settlement under Roman administration. Over the centuries it became a strategic location for the region and remained so through several different periods of rule.

The area is home to people from different backgrounds who have shared this place for generations. You'll notice how locals blend their own traditions with daily life together in the community.

The settlement maintains basic services and amenities for visitors despite its small current population. A church from the early 1900s serves as a reference point at the center and shows where the main public spaces are located.

The fortress on the hilltop was an active military installation for centuries rather than a ruin left to decay. It remained in use until the late 1800s, giving it an unusually long operational history compared to similar structures.
