CFS Carp Almonte Detachment

CFS Carp Almonte Detachment was an unmanned military radio receiver station located in the Burnt Lands alvar region of Ontario. It featured antenna arrays and operated through land-line connections to the main CFS Carp facility and other detachments.

The site was built in 1962 as Canada expanded its military communications capabilities during the Cold War era. Operations ended in 1994 when the facility was decommissioned.

The facility represented Canadian military communications infrastructure and demonstrated the country's technical capabilities during Cold War operations. It functioned as part of a larger network that maintained strategic connections across the region.

The former site is now part of Burnt Lands Provincial Park and can be visited as part of exploring this protected natural area. Access is best gained through existing trails that help preserve the alvar ecosystem.
