Morris Island Conservation Area, Protected area along Ottawa River, Canada

Morris Island Conservation Area covers 47 hectares of forested woodlands and wetlands on the Ottawa River near Fitzroy Harbour. It is operated by the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority and includes bay areas of the island used for canoeing, along with trails and accessible fishing platforms.

The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority established this area as a joint effort with Ontario Power Generation and the City of Ottawa. This partnership created a protected natural space along the river to benefit both wildlife and the community.

The area serves as a place where visitors learn about local ecosystems through interpretive signs and guided nature programs. These programs help people understand the habitats that exist here.

The site has about 6 kilometers of marked trails, fishing platforms, and modern washroom facilities for visitors. Parking is available on site to make your visit straightforward.
