Malvaglia, Alpine village in Blenio Valley, Switzerland
The village of Malvaglia extends across 80.3 square kilometers of mountainous terrain at an elevation of 389 meters in the Ticino canton.
First documented in 1205 as de Malvallia, Malvaglia contains remnants of Casa dei pagani, a cave castle from the 11th to 13th centuries.
The parish church of St. Benedict, mentioned in 1207, features a 13th-century bell tower and stands as a central religious monument.
A modern cable car system connects Malvaglia to Mount Dagro, providing access to hiking trails and outdoor activities throughout the valley.
The Casa Baggio, built in the 16th century and expanded in the 17th, served as the residence for the local bailiff.
