Malvaglia

Malvaglia is an alpine village in the Blenio Valley in Switzerland, sitting on a mountainside where traditional stone buildings blend with modern infrastructure. The settlement spreads across the terrain and forms a compact village layout that respects the landscape.

The village was first documented in 1205 and served as a settlement with fortified structures during the Middle Ages, as shown by the cave castle Casa dei Pagani. The church with its distinctive bell tower developed over centuries and continues to define the village center today.

Casa Baggio, a well-kept building from the 16th century, once served as the residence of the local bailiff and shows how the administrative elite lived. The house was expanded later and remains a visible reminder of the region's earlier political structures.
