Breithorn

The Breithorn rises to an elevation of 3,785 meters, featuring steep rocky slopes and offering views across the Lötschental valley and surrounding Alpine ranges.

First mountaineers reached the summit in 1865, marking the beginning of regular climbing expeditions through the challenging terrains of this Swiss Alpine peak.

The mountain stands as a symbol of Swiss Alpine heritage, with local festivals and events celebrating mountaineering traditions throughout the Lötschental region.

Visitors can access the mountain area by taking hourly postal buses from Gampel/Steg to Wiler, then continuing via cable car to Lauchernalp at 1,965 meters.

Mountain bikers descend 644 meters along a 9.45-kilometer trail from Lauchernalp to Ried, passing through traditional mountain villages and Alpine meadows.
