Tête Blanche

Tête Blanche is an alpine peak reaching 3,710 meters, positioned between the Swiss valleys of Hérens and Mattertal and the Italian valley of Valpelline. The summit sits at a natural boundary where three valleys converge, making it a notable landmark in the region's geography.

The peak became known from the 1980s onward when it was included in the Patrouille des Glaciers ski touring race running between Chamonix and Zermatt. The race established the route across its glaciers as a recognized mountaineering pathway.

The peak marks a linguistic intersection where French, German, and Italian-speaking regions meet, reflecting the diverse cultural heritage of the Alpine region.

The climb requires glacier skills and proper equipment, as crevasses and steep slopes are part of the route. The Bertol hut nearby serves as the starting point for most ascents.

The summit sits at a tri-border point where Swiss cantonal borders meet Italy. This geographical feature makes it a notable destination for those interested in boundary landscapes.
