Eisstadion Biel, Indoor ice rink in Bienne, Switzerland
Eisstadion Biel is a modern ice facility with two levels of ice surfaces for different purposes. The main level features a primary rink with seating for about 7,000 spectators, while above it sits an additional ice surface and a dedicated curling hall with six competition rinks.
The original ice rink opened in 1973 and served the community for more than four decades. In 2015 it was replaced by the new Tissot Arena, which brought a modern design and expanded facilities to the city.
The venue is home to the HC Biel-Bienne ice hockey team and shapes how the city engages with winter sports. People gather here regularly to watch and play, making it a central meeting place for local fans and athletes.
The venue is easily accessible by public transportation and provides ample parking on site. Visitors should check what activities are scheduled when they arrive, as different areas are used for different events throughout the day.
The building houses an unusual combination of a second ice field on its upper level and a fully equipped curling arena under one roof. This arrangement allows ice hockey and curling to happen at the same time, which is notable for a sports venue of this size.
