Sonnighorn

Pizzo Bottarello is a rocky summit in the Saas-Fee region reaching approximately 3,500 meters in elevation. Steep rock faces and surrounding glacier formations create a rugged, high-alpine landscape.

The summit has marked a natural boundary between Swiss and Italian territories for centuries. Documented climbing expeditions from the 19th century demonstrate a long history of mountaineering activity in this area.

The nearest mountain hut lies several hours east of the summit and provides shelter for mountaineers. Good fitness and climbing experience are required for the steep routes on this peak.

The mountain carries two names and is locally known as both Pizzo Bottarello and by its German equivalent. This dual naming reflects the peak's proximity to the Italian border and the meeting point of two mountain cultures.
