Breithorn

The Breithorn is an Alpine summit in Switzerland made up of five distinct peaks that form a ridge. Its highest western point reaches 4,164 meters above sea level.

The Breithorn was first climbed in 1813 when Henry Maynard and four companions reached the summit. This early ascent established it as one of the earlier 4,000-meter peaks to be conquered in the Alps.

The mountain sits on the Swiss-Italian border, where two language regions and climbing traditions meet. Visitors can experience this cultural blend through local customs and place names across the area.

Access is gained through a cable car from Klein Matterhorn that reaches 3,820 meters, making the route manageable for beginners. From this point, visitors with proper equipment can complete the climb.

From the standard route, climbers can see dozens of 4,000-meter peaks scattered across the Alpine chain. This view makes the experience memorable despite the moderate difficulty level.
