Schloss Ebersberg, Castle and stately home in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland.
Schloss Ebersberg stands on elevated ground near Emmishofen and combines architectural elements from different periods resulting from multiple reconstructions throughout its history. The property includes additional structures built around 1798, such as a wine cellar and tenant dwelling that still stand within the grounds today.
First documented in 1530 as Ober-Girsberg, the property was purchased by merchant Niclaus I. de Gall-Aigen from Konstanz. He transformed it into the refined residence visible today.
The estate shows how Swiss nobility shifted from wanting defensive strongholds to preferring elegant residences with gardens and farm buildings. Visitors can see this change reflected in the buildings and grounds.
The castle sits on a hilltop with good views over the surroundings and can be reached by several paths. Visitors have plenty of space to explore the various buildings and outdoor areas on the grounds.
Count Eberhard Zeppelin, brother of the famous airship designer Ferdinand von Zeppelin, owned the castle and gave it his family name. This link to the renowned Zeppelin family adds an intriguing layer to the estate's story.
