Hohsaas, Cable car station in Saas-Grund, Switzerland
Hohsaas is a mountain station at 3101 meters in the Pennine Alps, serving as a hub for hikers, skiers, and mountaineers. From here you can access multiple Alpine routes and reach higher peaks with direct views across the surrounding range.
Cable car infrastructure was built in the 1960s, opening this section of the Pennine Alps to visitors for the first time. This project was part of a broader effort that transformed how people could reach high mountain destinations across Switzerland.

An eight-person cable car climbs from Saas-Grund with a stop at Kreuzboden station at 2397 meters on the way up. During the ride, you can already sense the changing landscape and the shift into higher Alpine terrain.
From the viewing platform, you can see eighteen peaks above 4000 meters, including the striking Weissmies that stands out distinctly from the surrounding mountains. This vantage point offers one of the most complete overviews of the highest summits in the region.
