Hong Kong Museum of the War of Resistance and Coastal Defence

The Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence occupies a former British fort spanning 34,200 square meters overlooking the Lei Yue Mun channel near Shau Kei Wan.

British forces constructed the Lei Yue Mun Fort in 1887 to protect Victoria Harbour's eastern approaches, but Japanese forces captured it on December 19, 1941.

The museum presents the exhibition '600 Years of Coastal Defence' chronicling Hong Kong's maritime protection from the Ming Dynasty through the Opium Wars.

Visitors can reach the museum through a 15-minute walk from Shau Kei Wan MTR Station Exit B2, with adult admission costing 10 Hong Kong dollars.

The museum's redoubt contains converted casemates displaying military artifacts, including a 7-inch RML Mark 1 gun from the 1870s.
