Hing Yik Bridge, Footbridge in Eastern District, Hong Kong
Hing Yik Bridge is a footbridge in the Chai Wan area that crosses over Chai Wan Road and links two residential zones. The structure is a functional steel construction that gives pedestrians a protected route over a busy multi-lane thoroughfare.
The bridge was built in 1978 as part of a major infrastructure expansion in eastern Hong Kong. It was created during a period of rapid urban growth when new transportation routes became increasingly necessary.

The bridge is easy to reach by MTR or several bus lines that stop nearby. Pedestrians should use the stairs or ramps to reach the upper level, where they have a clear view of the road below.
In 2018 a crane truck accident caused major damage that required extensive repair work. The renovations were completed a year later, making the bridge an example of urban infrastructure resilience.
