Wuhan Center is a mixed-use skyscraper with 88 floors rising 438 m in the Wangjiadun Business District. The structure houses office space, residential apartments, and retail areas within a single complex.
Construction began in 2011, and the tower topped out on 16 April 2015; it was completed and opened in 2019. At 438 m and 88 floors, it was the first building in Wuhan to exceed 400 m. In 2023, court-ordered asset preservation froze parts of the tower and its land.
The tower stands on the former Wangjiadun airport site, which the city and developer Fanhai Holdings began redeveloping as Wuhan CBD in 2002. Locals often call the district 'Fanhai CBD' because one company drove almost all of it. The building has been closed to tenants since its topping-out, and since 2023 parts of it have been under court seizure.
The tower stands near Wuhan Business District Station in Jianghan District, on the site of the former Wangjiadun airport. Since topping out in 2015 the building has not opened for leasing, and barriers surround it, so it is viewed from outside rather than entered. The 88 floors rise from a wide podium with dark glass windows.
The building was designed with advanced engineering solutions to handle the extreme structural demands of its height. The innovations for wind resistance and stability set new standards for tall buildings in the region.
