Vorholz, Natural summit in Lower Saxony, Germany.
Vorholz is a summit in Lower Saxony that rises to about 243 meters above sea level. The terrain forms part of a ridge system in the Hildesheim district and features forests crisscrossed by hiking trails.
The region around Vorholz was shaped by geological processes during the last ice age, which formed the landscape of the Lower Saxon Hills. This foundational structure remains visible in the ridge system today.
Local residents utilize the network of forest paths throughout Vorholz for recreational activities and nature observation throughout the changing seasons.
The terrain is reachable via multiple hiking trails that start from different points in the area. Parking areas are located at the main access points to the ridge system.
Two different towers stand on the ridge: an old observation tower on Ortsberg near Astenbeck that no longer operates, and an active transmission tower on the nearby Barenberg peak. These two structures create a distinctive visual landmark.
