Hausmannsturm, Medieval tower at Dresden Castle, Germany

The octagonal Hausmannsturm reaches a height of 100.27 meters and features a copper-covered dome with an open lantern at its peak.

Built around 1400 as part of the ducal residence, architect Wolf Caspar von Klengel extended the tower by 35 meters between 1674 and 1676.

The tower houses a mechanical clock created in 1741 by court clockmaker Jean François Poncet, with a seven-meter pendulum swinging every 2.5 seconds.

Visitors can climb 222 steps to the observation platform daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, except Tuesdays, with adult tickets priced at 5 euros.

Dresden's first lightning rod was installed on the Hausmannsturm in 1775, making it the highest structure in the city until 1945.
