Schlossbergseilbahn

The Schlossbergseilbahn is an aerial lift in Freiburg that carries passengers roughly 260 meters from a city park up a wooded hill, gaining about 70 meters in elevation. The modern system uses a cabin to continuously transport visitors to walking trails and viewpoints at the top.

The current system replaced an aerial cable car that operated from 1968 to 2007 and was Germany's only urban aerial cableway. The new installation arrived in 2008 to meet modern demands for safety and efficiency.

The lift connects the city with green spaces and walking trails on the hill, where visitors can enjoy views over Freiburg. It serves as a starting point for people wanting to explore nature without a long walk from the city center.

The lift is easily accessible on foot from the city center and offers a simple way to reach the hill. With regular departures during warmer months, the ride is short and requires minimal waiting time, especially outside peak periods.

The system uses a single cabin that shuttles back and forth continuously, carrying up to 25 passengers at once. This compact solution allows many people to move quickly between both stations without needing multiple cable cars.
