The Schlossbergbahn carries passengers over a distance of 262 meters from the Municipal Park to the Schlossberg hill, rising 73 meters in elevation.
The current inclined elevator replaced the original cable car system in 2008, which operated from 1968 to 2007 as Germany's only urban aerial cableway.
The Schlossbergbahn serves as a gateway to local recreation areas, connecting the city center with nature trails and observation points above Freiburg.
The lift operates from 10:00 to 18:00 on Monday and Tuesday, and from 09:00 to 22:00 Wednesday through Sunday, with adult tickets priced at 3.50 euros.
The automated system transports up to 25 passengers in a single cabin, completing the journey at a speed of 1.5 meters per second in three minutes.
