Founded in 1846 by merchant Johann Caspar Koop, the building initially served as an educational society for cigar makers with 144 members at its first meeting.
The structure transformed into the House of Science in 2005, hosting exhibitions and discussions about research from universities and scientific institutions in Bremen.
Located in Bremen's central district, the building maintains its original architectural elements while functioning as a modern center for scientific discourse and education.
The building's residential facade underwent reconstruction in the 1990s based on Wilhelm Hermann Lüninghusen's 1882 architectural designs.
