The Verkehrsturm at Domsheide features an octagonal structure with high round-arched windows rising from a four-meter square base made of red bricks.
Built in 1988, this traffic control tower initially managed operations for Bremen Straßenbahn AG before transitioning to storage functions in subsequent years.
Danish artist Per Kirkeby designed this structure, marking his first brick sculpture that combined architectural functionality with artistic expression.
The tower stands at the intersection of Domsheide and Balgebrückstraße, near Bremen Cathedral, functioning as a reference point in the transportation network.
The structure received official protection status in 2019 from Bremisches Denkmalschutz, recognizing its significance in urban development and architectural innovation.
