Umar Ibn Al Khattab Mosque

The Umar Ibn Al Khattab Mosque is a religious building with two prayer levels and four slender minarets at the corners. The interior provides space for large prayer gatherings and features traditional Islamic design elements throughout.

A supermarket previously occupied this site but was destroyed in the 1980s, leaving a vacant lot for many years. The mosque was completed in 2010 and marked a fresh start for the property and its surroundings.

The minarets and dome shape the local streetscape and represent the Islamic community's place in the neighborhood. Around the building, shops and cafes have developed into gathering spots for residents and visitors alike.

The building sits in Kreuzberg at the Wiener Straße intersection, easily accessible by the Görlitzer Bahnhof U-Bahn station nearby. Visitors should check prayer times and visiting guidelines in advance, as this is an active place of worship.

Beyond the prayer hall, the complex houses a Quran school, shops, and a cafe all connected under one roof. This combination created a space that serves not only for worship but also as a social gathering place for the community.
