Schloss Monbijou, Cultural heritage ruins in Dietrichingen, Germany.
The remains of Monbijou Palace stand on a hill above Dietrichingen, featuring ruins of an orangery and former gardens designed by Friedrich Ludwig Sckell.
Duke Karl II August of Zweibrücken acquired the estate in 1784 through an exchange, renaming it Monbijou and transforming the property into a hunting lodge with gardens.
The palace complex included extensive garden arrangements with an orangery and English-style landscaping that reflected 18th-century architectural and horticultural trends.
The site deteriorated significantly after a fire damaged the orangery in 1972, leaving only fragments of the original structures visible today.
The estate originated from the medieval settlement of Leichelbingen, first mentioned in 1258, and later became part of the Palatinate-Zweibrücken territory.
