Leichlinger Sandberge, Hill group and cultural heritage monument in Leichlingen, Germany.

The Leichlinger Sandberge features four distinct elevations with Wenzelnberg reaching 111.5 meters as the highest peak in the area.

The first documented sand mining activities in Leichlinger Sandberge date back to June 28, 1367, leading to extensive industrial excavation operations.

The remaining section of Heidberg received protection status as a geological monument in 1983 to prevent further sand extraction activities.

Visitors can reach the site by taking the RB 48 train to Leichlingen station or buses 254 and 255 to the Leichlingen-Am Adler stop.

The exposed geological layers reveal red, white, and yellow sand formations that originated from ancient ocean deposits during the Triassic period.
