Martinikirche

The Martinikirche exhibits Gothic architecture with a tall bell tower and features interior decorations transformed during the eighteenth century renovations.

After a devastating fire in 1472 destroyed most of the original 1248 building, reconstruction efforts began in 1483 to create the current structure.

The church maintains two medieval bells from 1419 and 1590, representing centuries of continuous religious practice in the Thuringian region.

The church operates under the parish of Saint Severin and underwent complete restoration in 2001 to maintain its structural integrity.

The bell tower remained the sole surviving element of the original thirteenth-century church after the 1472 fire that consumed the rest of the structure.
