Rittergut Bangert, Manor estate in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
Rittergut Bangert is a manor house with multiple wings located on the Schlossberg plateau, surrounded by water features and structured gardens. The property combines residential spaces with economic facilities and displays architectural additions from different periods.
The estate was first documented in 1326 as a water castle and gained prominence when purchased in 1771 by Princess Henriette Amalie von Anhalt-Dessau. The Puricelli family later expanded and modernized the property considerably with additional structures in the 19th century.
The estate now houses several museums that offer visitors different perspectives on the property and its past. Each museum focuses on specific aspects, from garden history to puppet theater traditions and Roman artifacts found on the grounds.
Visitors should be prepared for uneven ground and multiple levels, as the estate sits on a plateau with various buildings connected together. Good footwear and time to explore the different museums and garden areas are recommended.
The park contains rare plant species like Ginkgo and Elephant trees, showing how ambitious 19th-century landowners collected exotic specimens. Additionally, many decorative metal objects were produced in the on-site foundry operated by the Puricelli family.
