The three-story baroque castle features symmetrical wings, large windows, and a central entrance portal adorned with classical architectural elements.
Built between 1745 and 1748 as a summer residence for Count Heinrich XXV Reuss zu Gera, the castle later served as a military hospital during both World Wars.
The castle transformed from an aristocratic residence to an educational institution, now housing the Gera-Eisenach Cooperative State University's academic facilities.
Students access the university library and study areas through the main entrance, with the former state rooms now serving as lecture halls and seminar spaces.
The building's foundation stands on the site of a medieval moated castle, incorporating elements from multiple architectural periods into its current educational function.
