Schloss Nussdorf

Schloss Nussdorf, Medieval château in Eberdingen, Germany

Schloss Nussdorf is a castle constructed with unplastered rubble masonry walls, featuring medieval foundations and later additions throughout its structure. The complex includes a central courtyard with cloister-style architecture, multiple auxiliary buildings, and sits within a surrounding English landscape garden.

The castle originated in the 15th century as a fortified structure in the region. Major reconstruction took place in 1878, introducing new sections and reshaping the layout into its present form.

The name derives from walnut trees that once grew abundantly on the grounds. Visitors can observe how the different structures were built over time to form a connected estate complex.

The castle grounds connect directly to walking trails that lead into the surrounding countryside, making it a good starting point for exploration. The area works well for half-day visits and offers various routes depending on your pace and interests.

The northern tower still stands from the medieval founding era and serves as the original core of the entire complex. Later construction phases were built around this ancient structure, making the building history visible in its layout.
