Schloss Reichenberg

Schloss Reichenberg is a stone castle in Reichelsheim featuring a fortification wall, chapel, and keep situated on elevated terrain with views across the Schwäbischer Wald. The castle contains multiple sections that can be explored during guided tours led by knowledgeable experts who explain the architectural details of each area.

Construction of the castle began in the early 1200s under the direction of Margrave Hermann V from Baden. Over the following centuries, the structure was modified and adapted until eventually transitioning to its current use as a social care facility.

The castle is managed by Paulinenpflege Winnenden, a social care organization that uses the grounds for community gatherings and cultural events. Monthly meetings at the Burgcafé from May to August demonstrate how this historical site continues to serve as a meeting place for people from the region.

The castle is accessible through guided tours with expert explanations and is located on elevated ground to keep in mind when visiting. The Burgcafé with refreshments operates during monthly gatherings from May to August and offers a peaceful place to rest.

The castle has functioned as a diaconal care facility for the past 120 years, managed by Paulinenpflege Winnenden as a social service center. This repurposing has ensured the historical structure remains an active hub serving people from the surrounding community.
